About the Club - History
The Garden Club of Mount Prospect was organized May 8, 1963. The club's meetings, programs and projects are designed to carry out the vision of the founding members' mission statement to "encourage interest in gardening and horticulture, artistic use of plant materials, civic beauty and conservation of natural resources."
The purpose of the club was, and still is, to keep Mt. Prospect beautiful. Over its more than 50 years of service, it has accomplished its goal. In 1997 the club was named a "Shining Star" for beautification to the Village and again in 2011 for the Green Thumb Award program.
The Club supports Nature Conservancy, Citizens for Conservation, Stillman Nature Center, Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation, Chicago Botanic Garden, Garfield Park Conservatory, International Dark Sky Association and others.
